Stemcell Plants

I would very much appreciate a secure brain interface, but - I don‘t believe in it; not in 20 years at least. But even if, software, or shall I say wetware?, will be a nightmare. Regarding Microsoft, Jaron Lanier once asked in the early 2000s, what makes us think, that future software won‘t be as buggy as today.

Though I believe in some progress, particularly with cochlear and retina implants. But. There are an unspecified challenges here, not only from the "medical" or "technical" perspective, but when it comes to different „layers“ that will require „reality status“. Given that our world still exists than, we do need our „original perception mechanisms“, we need to see and to hear what happens in front of us (and when the hungry tiger approaches us from behind of course!). Supposed implants shall produce addidtional value anyhow, they should be able to receive signals wirelessly. So this would produce a „second, third, fourth ... layer“ on top of our reality in front. Think of the mess you have to cope with, when the traffic in front of you is competing with „a videocall from your family“ in your left retina, while the cochlear on your right is still „in the m+a-Meeting in Singapore“ .

To me, it seems pretty clear, that I do need a brain controller, if not a 2nd cpu.

So my prediction: body spare parts become a sound industry, based on stemcell „plants“. This seems to me much more promising, leaving all the trouble with consciousness apart.

Environmental + Economic Collapse

The Chinese are planning their transition to an automobile society modeled after the US and Western Europe. This massive mis-use of resources in a totally unscalable, unsustainable model will accelerate environmental degradation to a tipping point. Large-scale environmental catastrophes will begin to unfold with regularity before our very eyes. Flooding, famine, and mass human migrations will ensue. Total collapse of the current international monetary system will also occur somewhere in midst of this chaos. Mass riots, and rebellion will become common as the masses seek to extract revenge on the ruling classes.

If we survive as a species, we will look back at Capitalism with all its excesses, unfairness, and disrespect of humans and the environments as a colossal failure and collective stupidity.

Direct neural link to the Internet / One Machine

Email will still be there but cybernetic-interfaces hook you up directly to the internet. you will receive new email on your retina. The new mail icon will be displayed as a little icon on your retina and you can read it by thinking to read it, which will open the email so you can read it. you can decide by thinking, on which eye you would like to have it displayed. you can write, call and publish by thinking. More advanced interfaces will skip the reading part, but induce the contents of a message into your memory, so it feels as you had already read it and you can start thinking of the answer. at the same time your brain can tap into encyclopedia Britannica, that eventually replaced wikipedia (TW), and research on any topic. it will feel like telepathy, but will be fueled by wireless antennas hooked up to your lobes directly, rendering you always on.
